Christian Family Montessori School: Capital Campaign

After many years of searching for a home that would be both stable and affordable for the next 30 years as well as house on-site after-care, we feel incredibly blessed and fortunate to have signed a Letter of Intent to rent space for CFMS at St. Paul's Rock Creek Parish located at Rock Creek Church Rd. and Webster St., NW in Washington DC.

It is truly a beautiful location that exceeds our hopes and dreams. The photos on this site show aspects of the location as it currently exists.

There are a number of steps necessary before we move in, including renovating the existing building to meet our program needs. You can follow our progress here.

The Check List

✔ Zoning

In order to operate a private school in the District of Columbia, we need to receive a special exception from the Board of Zoning Adjustment. Our zoning hearing was Tuesday, November 30th and we receive approval on Tuesday, December 14th.

✔ Design

Our architect, Jim Cronenberg of Grupo7 Architecture has completed plans for our new space.

✔ Permitting

Our plans have been submitted for building permits, which we anticipate receiving by the end of January.

✔ Renovations

As soon as we obtain our permits, we will begin the renovations. The permitting process is approximately 90 days, so we are hoping to begin construction in March.

✔ Child-care Licensing

Because we will be caring for children under the age of 5, we are required to be licensed as a child-care center. Once construction is complete and we have our Certificate of Occupancy, we can apply for our child-care license.

Our capital campaign to raise $500,000 is well underway. These funds will be used for the various costs associated with our move to St. Paul's—zoning, licensing, staffing, design, and construction are just a few of those expenses.

Our Progress

Thanks to all of you who have made gifts and pledges so far. We have secured $483,000. We need the entire CFMS family to help us reach this goal, current and past families and staff, alumni, and friends and relatives of our students past and present.

Pledges can be paid over a three year period, multiplying a small monthly gift to help us reach our goal.
