Care for Primary Children (Age 2.5 to 6 years)

CFMS offers two classroom options for Primary children.

Traditional Primary

The Traditional Primary class serves children ages 2.5 to 6 and is designed for families who can build their schedules around a traditional school day. All students in the class begin their day at 8:30 a.m. For children in their first year, dismissal is at 11:45 a.m. Children in their second year who no longer nap may stay until 3 p.m. All third-year students in this class stay until the 3 p.m. dismissal.

All-Day Primary

The All-Day Primary class is designed for families who need regular full-day care for their children. Children may arrive as early as 8:00 a.m. and stay at school as late as 5:30 pm each day.

BEFORE CARE

Before-care is offered for all children enrolled in the Traditional Primary or Elementary classes. It is available beginning at 8:00 am each day that school is open. Parents need to sign their child(ren) up in advance to attend Before-care. Parents can call or e-mail the office to sign up during the year. Children need to be dropped off no later than 8:15 am. If families arrive after 8:15, they will not be able to participate in Before-care for that day and will need to wait to until 8:30 to enter school when the school doors open. Before care will be charged at $3 per child per day.

ELEMENTARY EXTENDED

CFMS offers Extended care for all students in enrolled in the Elementary classes. Children enrolled in Elementary Extended attend this program from 3:00 pm until as late as 5:30 pm

Elementary Extended is flexible. Families can sign up to have their children attend on a fixed schedule ranging from one-to-five days per week. Families register their children for their desired schedule at the beginning of the school year and may adjust that schedule if needed. Elementary Extended is also available on a drop-in basis.

Daily Schedule

The Elementary Extended program strikes a balance between giving the children plenty of space for unstructured, open-ended activities and offering some structured program with a particular focus. Elementary Extended also makes extensive use of the outdoors, spending as much time outside as weather will allow. The programming from 4:00 to 5:00 will vary. These activities may range from choral singing to drumming to arts and crafts, baking, and more.
